Hakan Orbeyi (Japanese: 大ちゃん Hepburn: Dai-chan) is a German actor. He was born in 1971 in Großburgwedel, Lower Saxony, Germany. He is of Turkish descent.

Names[edit | edit source]

He earned his name due to his body size, (dai) being the Japanese word for "Big".

Hakan is a common Turkish forename which means "Emperor".

In Japanese, Hakan Orbeyi's name is transcribed as Hakan Orubei (ハカン・オルベイ).

History[edit | edit source]

He initially trained as a gas station attendant and forwarding agent. From 1993 to 1997 he worked as an independent bodyguard. In 1998 he appeared with the pop singer Loona.

Director Lenard Fritz Krawinkel discovered him in the fall of 1998 in the foyer of a cinema in Hanover and made him the lead role in the 2000 German film Sumo Bruno.

Role in Muchimuchi SUMO Series[edit | edit source]

Dai-chan's sumo training video is the main source used with other characters being Edmond-san, Arai-kun and "Potato God" The Shimizu. His shouts are commonly used, especially when he grabs the camera and yells "ANNÉES SOIXANTE!". He may be the one who originated from Gunma Prefecture or Alexander Czerwinski.
